Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake
Happy Monday! We've been enjoying the books of Roald Dahl around here: first James and the Giant Peach and now Danny the Champion of the World. All three of us move eagerly through the evening routine, anticipating reading the next chapter or two or three or four(!) before bed. We sneak some during the day, too. The stories are fun, suspenseful and funny. Eddie is learning to conjure the characters and events in his mind, a new phenomenon for a five-year-old making the move from picture books to chapter books. These particular editions, though, have scattered illustrations by Quentin Blake to help us. His little pictures perfectly complement the words, and we are charmed by them. Here are some drawings found on his website for your Monday...

Such a good post! You reminded me how much I loved Roald Dahl books growing up.
I love Roald Dahl. Will be reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to my eldes daughter soon (she's five). My favourite as a child was the Friendly Giant. I always felt he was so misunderstood. Happy reading!

Isn't it weird to think that the model Sophie Dahl is his granddaughter?
