Happy Weekend

We've had such a big May here! I hope you've been happily busy, too. I spent many of my May hours putting together a yearbook and a DVD to show and sell at my boy's graduation from Montessori. I had so much fun! And they were well-received, thankfully. Oh, how we have loved this little school. I cried, of course, when we picked him up after his last day there. I will cry when he goes off to kindergarten in three months, too. They grow so fast, don't they?Well, I'm off to spend this (beautiful) long weekend with my men. Monday is my seventh wedding anniversary! Again, I have that feeling that time is flying.
I hope you are able to enjoy this holiday weekend with family and friends, too. I'll be back Tuesday!

Popping In

Hello! Sorry for being absent... it's been so busy. It will be until the end of May, so posts may be light.I hope all of you are having a beautiful week. I'm off to work on the slide show for my son's Montessori graduation... so cute. I will pop in again when I can. Thanks so much for visiting, and I'm so sorry I'm not visiting each of you as often as I'd like lately!

Corner View: Sweets

Sweet cupcakes for a birthday...My child's 5th birthday is tomorrow. Stop me before I cry...
He will have a celebration of life at his Montessori, and he also brings in treats of his choice for their lunch dessert. He chose cupcakes. I did not make these (the treat must come from a commercial kitchen). They came from batter.
And her photos are so much better:Please enjoy other sweet corner views by visiting the right side bar here.

Pennies For Peace

My little guy made me smile yesterday evening. He came home from his beautiful Montessori school, where they've been reading Listen to the Wind and polishing pennies, and asked me how to spell Greg. Then he asked me how to spell Mortenson. The result was this...
I really hope you can read it. My little 4 and 1/4-year-old wants to send this to Greg Mortenson, the man behind the Central Asia Institute and its effort to construct community based schools for underserved youth (primarily girls) in Pakistan and Afghanistan. As the Central Asia Institute says, "the best hope for a peaceful and prosperous world lies in the education of all the world’s children." To educate myself, I've recently read Three Cups of Tea, the story of his efforts and successes. Eddie's Montessori is participating in the Pennies for Peace program, through which school children in the U.S. learn about making a positive impact on a global scale and contribute to the Central Asia Institute's cause.
Eddie would like me to send his note to Dr. Greg, so I will... along with a contribution.
