Cristobal Palma - Views, Windows, Spaces

All of these exceptional places and spaces were photographed by Cristobal Palma. It's how he's captured the views, and the amazing windows to the views, that I love. Well, I love all of it. All of these are in Chile. Now officially on my must-visit list.

Corner View

This week's subject is the unveiling...We were waiting for the ice cream truck last week when my husband snapped this photo. It pretty much sums me up. We live very casually, which you can see in my lovely attire (note my seven-year-old Carhartts). I tend toward forgetting basics like putting lotion (or olive oil -thanks Nichole!) on my skin (especially because that routine precedes my morning coffee), hence the dry knees in this photo (so, so typical). I run cold, so I'm always looking for a warm top (this is one of my ten or so fleeces... some are more feminine than this). I usually have a hat on outside to protect my oh-so-rapidly aging skin (and sunscreen... it's such a harsh climate for skin here, the sun is so strong and the air is so dry). Finally, right now I am so happily mom to this little guy. For example, I will drop everything to meet the ice cream truck! And there you have it!

My Current Fave

One of a photo booth series at Elitch Gardens in Denver two weeks ago. We laughed so hard! We couldn't make the lense point at us, so I was trying to lift Eddie way up into the frame, but I kept bumping my head on the ceiling. This is a child who normally hates the camera, but the silliness of it all was too undeniable for him. This pic reminds me that we had the BEST time that day, just my little guy and I. I am not normally an amusement park person, but we'd go back anytime. What a great day!

Paradise Near Buenos Aires

Just outside of Buenos Aires, Argentine furniture designer Alejandro Sticotti and his wife Mercedes Hernaez have built this lovely modern oasis for themselves and their teenage children.Sticotti designed the home and every detail of its built-in features, including windows, doors and shelving units. The materials are Argentinian, the furniture is mostly of Sticotti's design, and the home is unique, personal and gorgeous as a result. The story of how their home came to be and what it means to Sticotti and Hernaez is beautiful as well. Read it (and see more images) here, in the current Dwell.

Corner View

This week, I'm playing along with corner view! Today's theme is where I go to reflect. This is an easy one for me... any trail. Get me on a run or a hike (or a snowshoe in snowier months) and I'm reflecting. My backyard is also a very peaceful place for me on a Summer's eve...And, look! I'm reflecting in the back of this MG's mirror...

More Dar Ahlem

A couple of weeks ago there was this post. Now, here are some more dreamy images, this time from Mr. and Mrs. Smith, of this lovely casbah. It is Dar Ahlem, Maison des Reves, House of Dreams. It is in Ouarzazate in Morocco. Can this place be real?I've been to Ouarzazate. I remember it being scary, white-washed, and very far from home. I remember a liver dinner. I remember the lights going out inexplicably in my sister's and my tiny hotel room. I was 13 years old and it was 1977. I did like it there, but I didn't truly appreciate it. I could definitely give it another try.
