It may be the only repurposed thing in our home... I bought it already repurposed. It was a Canadian grain scale. It has been my coffee table in six homes since 1987, when I found it at an antique show in NYC. Actually, I found it in Toronto during a cold November visit, but went back to buy it from the same guy (for $400--a lot for me back then) when he showed in NY two weeks later. It still works: if you get over 200 lbs. on it, the scale tips. I do love it.
