Nathan Abels Exhibit at Denver's Rule Gallery

Kairos, Acrylic on Panel, 36 x 48"

Happy Friday! I'm so excited! Starting today through March 20th, those of us in the Denver area will go see the solo exhibit of new works by Nathan Abels, The Denver Post's Emerging Artist of 2009. "Natural Causes", with its opening reception tonight at the Rule Gallery, is sure to be a huge success for this significant young talent. "Kairos" is one of the works to be unveiled and I can't wait to take it in. Nathan describes his show as follows:
The works in "Natural Causes" explore the landscape and its inhabitants with each image depicting a visual pause in an ongoing event. What I am capturing in these paused moments is a sense of "straining at particles of light in the midst of great darkness."(Keats)
Murmer, Graphite, Charcoal and Pastel on Paper, 24 x 20"

Passage, Acrylic on Panel, 24 x 48"

Nathan will exhibit ten works in "Natural Causes." And in conjunction with his solo show, he is also curating a group exhibition featuring site-specific work by Mindy Bray, paintings from New York artists Jason Stopa and Eric LoPresti, photographs by German photographer Alexander Binder, works on paper by Alan Kitchen, and new bronze work by Yoshitomo Saito. Click here for a preview, and below is all the info you'll need to get yourself there...Don't miss it!
