On My Run and Happy Friday

I went for a beautiful run today. See the clouds? Moisture in the air. It makes running more fun! And do you see how fall is arriving? The trees are turning and leaves are beginning to blanket the trails.
I hope you have a happy weekend. Thank you for visiting me here!

Happy Long Weekend

Hello there. It's Friday again already, another week flown by. I do hope you have a happy and restful weekend.
Looking through my photos from Jackson, I found this, which I snapped during the drive home through desolate southern Wyoming. A beautiful trip through pretty barren country. It is another good memory of our full summer, now over. I am now beginning to accept fall, just as it should be. Thank you for visiting me here. I look forward to posting and visiting you more in the next few months!

On My Run

My nephew has been here for most of August to run, logging some beautiful, hilly miles in preparation for his fall cross-country season at school. We've been running with behind him, pointing him in the right direction. It's really been great fun. I've tried to snap a few photos between gasps for breath:
I do love running on the trails here. We'll try to keep it up, even after family leaves next week. Trying not to think about that - we'll miss them. Happy weekend to all of you.
Instagrams by me.

Jackson Hole, WY

Hi there. Our summer is almost over and I'm having trouble with that! The first snow will likely fly one month from now. Truly. Not kidding. Summer is just not long enough, but we've certainly packed a lot in to make it a really good one. A marvelous recent highlight was our jaunt last week to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Wow.
We joined my sister's family, visiting with friends who live in Jackson part-time. What a fun trip we had! Our hosts were so welcoming and generous, and their home was truly beautiful and comfortable. We hiked, kayaked down the Snake River, rode horses, ate and drank well, viewed all sorts of wildlife, and celebrated a birthday!
The magnificent owl is a Great Gray, and then there's a beaver and some buffaloes. We also saw a moose, elk, a bald eagle, and a coyote. We had a ball and we're very thankful! I'll be back to more regular posting once school starts next week, but for now, we're eking out everything we can from these last days! Thank you for visiting!

Hiking in Telluride

Hi all! We're back home after a few terrific days hiking in breathtaking Telluride, CO.
We loved our active getaway. My husband and I hiked thirty miles in three days, up and down 10,000 feet total. Our rewards were lots of solitude, phenomenal views, marmots and pikas, old cabins, wild flowers like crazy, and (of course) chocolate. We have Grandma, Grandpa and Auntie to thank for our sojourn; they whisked Eddie off to Disneyland for some magical days of their own. I may play with instagram and post a few more pics, just because it's fun! I hope you've had a beautiful week. I look forward to catching up. Have a great Friday!

update: we took photos 2-8 on this trail, 9-11 on this trail, and 1, 12-15 sort-of on this trail.

Pretty Montana

Hi. Popping in to show you an idyllic spot just outside of Livingston, Montana. Ahhh, if we win the lottery...
This is beautiful Crow Hollow Ranch. And how I'd love to spend some time here!
From the broker's website: "This majestic property...encompasses diverse topography which includes 478 acres (198 +/- deeded, 280 +/- leased), over a half mile of Suce Creek, mature aspen stands, ancient cottonwoods, grassy meadows, lush forest, and mountainous elevations tucked privately into a dramatic valley.
"Bordered to the east by Gallatin National Forest, and BLM lands to the north and south, the ranch attracts large populations of moose, deer, and many other species of wildlife [hmmm... me thinks grizzlies and mountain lions??!], while providing convenient access to over 900,000 acres of wilderness. Virtually surrounded by magnificent mountains, [and] just 8 miles to downtown Livingston..."
I hope the weekend is happy for you. We're away tomorrow to Telluride for a few days. Catch you when we're back. Thank you so much for your kind comments on yesterday's post and for visiting this week.
