Colorado Print Artist Christie Ginanni

Happy Friday! Today I'm excited to feature the work of print artist and Fancy Ink Press founder Christie Ginanni. Christie lives, works and creates not far from here in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Her work is filled with the nature of the mountains, which is just one reason it speaks to me-- it reminds me so much of home... Ashes to Dawn, 2009, etching, spit bite aquatint, aquatint, mezzotint, chine colle, and beeswax on paper, limited edition of 15, image size: 9 ¾ x 11 ½ inches, paper size: 14 x 15 ½ inches

Plan and Process II, 2009, mezzotint, etching, spit bite, chine colle, beeswax

Diorama 1, 2008, etching, ink, relief, digital collage, 18 x 18 inches

Diorama 2, 2008, etching, relief, digital collage, 17 x 18 inches

Hide and Seek, 2008, watercolor monotype, 17 1/2 x 21 inches

All at Once, 2008, etching with chine colle, 18 x 18 inches

Trees, 2007, drypoint, edition of 5, 8 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches

Perch, 2007, drypoint with chine colle, edition of 5, 8 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches

Lodgepole Pine, 2007, drypoint, edition of 5, 8 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches

I have a soft spot for prints and also for mixed method works so Christie's art jumped out at me from the start. A 2005 graduate of Colorado College with a B.A. in printmaking, Christie is already so accomplished. She will be just 27 this year, and she exhibited in no less than three juried print shows in 2009 and won an artist's residency in Venice, Italy. In October 2009, she also opened her own letterpress and printmaking studio in Steamboat Springs: Fancy Ink Press. At Fancy Ink, Christie specializes in letterpress stationary, a newer medium for her, and, of course, her limited edition intaglio prints. You can visit Christie on line here and her Fancy Ink on line here, or if you're in Steamboat on February 5th, she's having an open house! I will look forward to a trip to Steamboat to see her work in person. Thank you, Christie.

Hi Liza, I found your blog over at the lovely Otis & Frank. Glad I stopped by! A lot of inspiration here and I am also a huge art lover. Thank your for the introduction to Christie. She is very talented. I LOVE "All at Once". As a matter of fact, I need to scroll back and check out her website. Happy week! Monika
