If you are in New York next week, you must pop into Sotheby's. Seriously. You should check out the pre-auction exhibitions for these two events: Important Tiffany and Important 20th Century Design. There are some amazing pieces. Both auctions are on December 18th, and their exhibitions are open to the public from the 13th through the 17th. How much fun would it be to see these up close and in person, especially knowing that you may never see them again...
