Happy Friday! Today I'm excited to feature the work of print artist and Fancy Ink Press founder Christie Ginanni. Christie lives, works and creates not far from here in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Her work is filled with the nature of the mountains, which is just one reason it speaks to me-- it reminds me so much of home... Lodgepole Pine, 2007, drypoint, edition of 5, 8 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches
I have a soft spot for prints and also for mixed method works so Christie's art jumped out at me from the start. A 2005 graduate of Colorado College with a B.A. in printmaking, Christie is already so accomplished. She will be just 27 this year, and she exhibited in no less than three juried print shows in 2009 and won an artist's residency in Venice, Italy. In October 2009, she also opened her own letterpress and printmaking studio in Steamboat Springs: Fancy Ink Press. At Fancy Ink, Christie specializes in letterpress stationary, a newer medium for her, and, of course, her limited edition intaglio prints. You can visit Christie on line here and her Fancy Ink on line here, or if you're in Steamboat on February 5th, she's having an open house! I will look forward to a trip to Steamboat to see her work in person. Thank you, Christie.

Monika Schurle's Hiding Series
Ohdeedoh just posted about this sweet series by photographer Monika Schurle. I had to pass it on...Not only do I love the styling and photography, but I smile because in each of these whimsical images there is a child hiding. This so speaks to me! Every (and i mean every) night, our boy hides from us... under his covers, behind his couch, in his closet... and we must find him, feigning complete and utter surprise when we do. It's a favorite, sweet, innocent game that I will miss so much when he grows out of it.
Monika's portfolio has many other charming, humorous series, too. It's worth a peek.
ps... sorry there's no corner view yet! Hopefully by tomorrow!

Girly Rooms
Oftentimes my eye is drawn to sweet, girly rooms...
Next time we have an extra room, it may be girly.

Weekend Hike
Happy Tuesday! Our weekend hike to Hanging Lake and Spouting Rock was a great wintery adventure... It's only about a mile long, with a climb of 1000 feet...good for a 4-year-old. The hike is up a canyon with some steep, slightly scary drop-offs at the end. The beautiful, clear lake with its waterfall is well worth the effort any time of year.

I hope you have a beautiful weekend. I just came in from a refreshing hike...and I'm off to substitute at my son's Montessori school. Thank you for visiting here this week! Your comments are so much fun for me. See you Monday!
