Madeline Weinrib's Studio Space

Happy Thursday to you! I'm loving Madeline Weinrib's NY studio office as featured in New York Magazine. What an inspiring, treasure-filled space...Of course, most of the carpets and fabrics are her own designs, as are many of the art pieces. That fantastic folded suzani under the sleeping pup is an antique, and oh how I'd love to have it! Even the bowls filled with embroidery thread are so beautiful. The Suzani fabric embroidered in blue is one of Weinrib's newest, inspired by Matisse. I do love peeking into the creative environments of seriously talented, intelligent people. Don't you?

Horsey Stuff: Oughton Limited

I grew up riding and showing horses. At this time of year especially, I get the itch to be transported, to be competing at the beautiful Spring horse shows I knew in my youth. So it's superfluous to say I'm fond of equestrian stuff. I love everything I see at Oughton Limited: the "quiet, classic chic" bags, the styling, the inspiration, and the story. Daphne Markcrow, Oughton's founder is horsewoman herself and has style in her blood. Love it all...
Happy, happy Wednesday!

Ellen Granter's Birds

Hi all. I hope you've been well! We had a lovely, quiet Easter with my father in town. He treated me to a book, The Help, while he was here. I've wanted to read it for a long time. I love the cover art too by Ellen Granter, so I looked her up. Aren't these sweet?!Happy to feel a bit inspired again. And I hope you have a beautiful week!

Been Busy

Hi and sorry for the silence. I've been busy and somewhat uninspired. Can you believe that? With so much out there and Spring coming? I guess it happens. I did have a lovely morning run in Denver over the weekend and I took a few pics...I know that inspiration will come back soon! And I hope you're having a very happy week.

Blossoms for the Weekend

Happy Friday and weekend to you. I was in need of some Spring blossoms, and these fit the bill beautifully...Ours will not bloom here until the late May, a long wait. But I've loved seeing them springing up virtually, so please keep them coming! The first photo is from the most recent issue of rue and the second was shot by Ez just the other day. She collected oodles of dogwood boughs and artfully displayed them in her bright, happy home office. See more here at Creature Comforts. Perhaps we'll see some for ourselves in Denver this weekend. I do hope so. Happy rest days to you! Thank you so much for visiting this week.

Playroom

Happy new week! It snowed yesterday. Hard. So we took the opportunity to organize a bit. A while back I told you I was working on our playroom. It's still stuffed with Legos, but this is the neatest it's been yet, so here are some photos...
When Eddie creates a Lego car (which is every day) he keeps it for months in the bookcase. It's tough to keep the collection looking neat, but his creations are a lot of fun. Ah well. And I wasn't able to do away with the Lego table, but my husband raised it up and I made a simple cover for it that is so much better than the sheet that covered it before. Our shelves...Eddie's shelves...The additional storage cubes are working well...Little pig.So there it is! A goal is to bring in nothing more unless some goes to good will. I still want to get a flokati, and the artwork for the walls is out being framed. As it evolves, I'll try to show you more. I'll be back tomorrow. My husband and I are off to ski in the new powder!

Snowy Sunday

We're entertaining ourselves indoors today. We had sweet friends over - I had to take a picture of baby's adorable cap.Teams of strong Gogos are lifting cars. We're using our constructive minds because it's just a bit gray out there.Ugh.

Mission: 13.1

Happy Friday and happy April. Happy baseball season and happy final four! So much to be happy for today. Guess what...I'm off to do workout number five in my quest to run a half marathon in the fall!Did I tell you I started a work-out program this week to train, slowly and methodically, for running in a race? I did. And I am SO very sore. How did I get so pitifully out of shape?! I've been athletic my whole life until... and I think I can pinpoint this pretty well... until I discovered blogging. Three. Years. Ago. Oh dear. That's 1095 days of not breaking a sweat! Yes, I've hiked and skied, but recently I haven't been consistent or passionate about either. So when I received a text last Friday from my sister saying, "I put link on fb for you to check out. If you are interested... there are only a few spots left!" I warily opened facebook. I found this link. And I honestly signed up to train for and run in the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Fransisco in October.I've never run that far before. But I'm going to! So, on day five I'll ask you... do you know what muscles do when you haven't worked them for three years, then one day you wake them up by split squatting, fluttering, crunching, and lunging them? They cause you great, great pain. Ow. But I'm stretching, things are popping (in a good way), and I'm definitely waking up my body. It's a beautiful day and I'm ready for workout five! Periodically I'll fill you in on my progress, mostly to keep myself accountable. I'll have my iphone during training runs and I'm not above stopping to take pretty pictures for you... it wouldn't be as fun without my camera, people! So, here I go. I hope you have a beautiful weekend. Thank you for visiting me here this week!
