Love Her

Happy Friday to you! I've been absorbed in life here lately, so not very present on the blog. I apologize. This morning, though, I found this lovely painting...at Sotheby's. Love her and wanted to share her here. I'm taken with her sweet confident expression, her swept-back brunette hair, the suggestion of a diaphanous white off-the-shoulder dress, the delicate pink flower, the happy summery light.
I hope June has been beautiful for you so far. We are off for our first camping adventure this weekend and we can't wait. We've been through an adorable kindergarten graduation, and then I went off for a few days to my college 25th reunion. Marvelous time with old friends, and a mini reunion with my sisters in Boston following the college adventures. I'm happy to be home, finally experiencing some warm sunshine here in the mountains. I've been catching up with some of you and I'm overwhelmed with inspiration! Thank you for that. I hope your weekend is great. Thanks so much for visiting.

The Miller House

Happy mid-May to you! Time is flying and I've not been here much. But I saw The Miller House on The North Elevation today and I had to post about it too. The Indianapolis Museum of Art has just opened it to the public. This is a must-see for me...Designed in the early 1950s for J. Irwin Miller in an amazing collaboration by Eero Saarinen, Alexander Girard and Dan Kiley, it is a modernist masterpiece. I, for one, am thankful to the Miller family and the Indianapolis Museum of Art for letting us in. Do go visit The North Elevation, The Indianapolis Museum of Art and Dwell for more.

Photos from the Indianapolis Museum of Art and by Leslie Williamson for Dwell. All found thanks to The North Elevation.

Wright Scandinavian Design

Happy Monday! I hope it was a beautiful Spring weekend for you. I'm excited to be starting this week, and I can't believe we're moving into the middle of May already. Where is the time going?! My Mother's Day was lovely and quiet. If you celebrated, I hope yours was happy, too.
Wright will have its next Scandinavian Design Auction this Thursday the 12th. It was hard to choose, but here are my favorites...

They are, from the top: a pair of Hans Wegner folding chairs, a (beautiful!) Ingrid Dessau hand-woven wool rug, a Piet Hein Ursa Major Candelabra, a pair of Preben Fabricius and Jorgen Kastholm Bird chairs, an Astrid Fog necklace by Georg Jensen, a set of Erik Buck stools, and a Poul Henningsen 3/2 floor lamp. See all of them and more at Wright. And have a good day!

Happy Friday

I hope you have a lovely weekend and, if I'm not back before Sunday, a happy Mother's Day!I love this home and this photo, particularly the seating area on the right side. I mostly love that fun piece of art on the wall and the cushions on the chair. Such a happy spot! From Bo Bedre via Emma.

Madeline Weinrib's Studio Space

Happy Thursday to you! I'm loving Madeline Weinrib's NY studio office as featured in New York Magazine. What an inspiring, treasure-filled space...Of course, most of the carpets and fabrics are her own designs, as are many of the art pieces. That fantastic folded suzani under the sleeping pup is an antique, and oh how I'd love to have it! Even the bowls filled with embroidery thread are so beautiful. The Suzani fabric embroidered in blue is one of Weinrib's newest, inspired by Matisse. I do love peeking into the creative environments of seriously talented, intelligent people. Don't you?

Horsey Stuff: Oughton Limited

I grew up riding and showing horses. At this time of year especially, I get the itch to be transported, to be competing at the beautiful Spring horse shows I knew in my youth. So it's superfluous to say I'm fond of equestrian stuff. I love everything I see at Oughton Limited: the "quiet, classic chic" bags, the styling, the inspiration, and the story. Daphne Markcrow, Oughton's founder is horsewoman herself and has style in her blood. Love it all...
Happy, happy Wednesday!

All images from Oughton Limited. The third photo (fabulous!!) is copyright Lisa Cueman.

Ellen Granter's Birds

Hi all. I hope you've been well! We had a lovely, quiet Easter with my father in town. He treated me to a book, The Help, while he was here. I've wanted to read it for a long time. I love the cover art too by Ellen Granter, so I looked her up. Aren't these sweet?!Happy to feel a bit inspired again. And I hope you have a beautiful week!
