Corner View :: Summer
Today's Corner View topic is Summer. Ours has been very relaxed and happy so far! This season is gorgeous here -- we have many sunny, hot days without humidity, and very cool nights. While we spend a lot of time enjoying nature, I think the blinking lights and whirling rides of the carnival the other day were Summer highlights for my son! We had good fun, too, so I thought I'd show more of it... Did you notice we are practically the only ones there? We went during the day and I think others went in the evening, but we didn't care... the rides were long, and we didn't wait! We've also camped, been to the pool, biked, hiked, jumped on the trampoline, dined outdoors and taken in a baseball game in Denver. I hope July is as much fun!
Please start at Jane's place to see all the other corner views. And I hope you have a beautiful day!

Inspiration in White
Last week, I thought I might have hit white overload. But I was wrong! I still love it...and I love every one of the beautiful blogs that knocked me out with these. Thanks for being out there!
My Scandinavian Retreat, The Style Files, Automatism on Pinterest (I've followed Lori's Automatism for a long time and now I'm also loving her boards on Pinterest, where she posted this one), SFGirlbyBay, and The Zhush. Finally, the flags over the sink are from EmersonMade.

Beautiful Weekend
Aren't these just lovely? They were auctioned at Doyle yesterday. I hope some thoughtful husband bought them for his beautiful wife, and he's surprising her on their wedding anniversary! And I love these below, too. I do have a lot of fun browsing what's out there. Perhaps if we have showers this weekend, I'll snoop some more. I hope whatever you do, your weekend is beautiful!

Denver Blogs
In the latest 5280, Denver's monthly what-to-do-in-Denver magazine, they listed some design blogs to check out. I thought I'd pass them on to you. But first, I want to pass on three of my favorite Denver blogs. Each is very personal and very beautiful I think they should have been in 5280, too.
First is Minutiae, Nathan Abel's blog...Nathan is a Denver artist and aerial photographer. In his blog, he writes about his own art; the Denver art scene; art, music, literature, and history that inspire him; his adventures in Colorado and more. This photo is from his recent tour of Colorado ghost towns. I'm imagining material for one of his paintings here!
Next is Une Envie de Sel, blog of Maia Larkin, illustrator, photographer, and mother of Q.. This blog is a very lovely, personal account of the upbringing of Q., of this artistic family's life in Denver, and of their travels beyond. Maia's photo collages are gorgeous. She captures the wonder of a two-year-old's life perfectly.
Finally, MODsquad... the photo diary of another young, happy Denver family, with some design finds that are right up my alley. Ice cream, bicycles, camping, and tea towels -I could spend my Summer here!
I love that I can go to each of these blogs and feel some familiarity, yet see new and beautiful views of life in Colorado. Thanks to each of these bloggers for being out there.
OK, here are 5280's choices:
If the Lampshade Fits, a very good design blog that I already visit and enjoy.
Who's Your Dacky, Interior designer Megan Hudacky's fun, knowledgeable design blog, with lots of Denver info and a great sense of humor.
Design Around Denver, which I like very much, even though she's on a break right now. Hopefully she comes back with photos and info about her own home remodel.
Finally, they featured Megan Kane of M Street Denver. Kane is a designer, real estate broker and property developer, who also has great tips and lots of information about the Denver design scene.
I'll be checking into each of these and I hope you do, too. Have a great Thursday!

Art and Design at Auction
This day flew by! But I like some of the pieces I've seen in the upcoming auctions, so I want to show them to you...First is a woodblock print by Kiyoshi Saito Ancient City - Kyoto 1970. His works come up on occasion and the city scenes always appeal to me. Love this one. Next a little sterling...Two art deco flasks and a lovely Tiffany Daisy bowl from the late 19th century. The goodies above will be auctioned on line at Leland Little this Saturday. And here is a Picasso print of a young girl...that was auctioned at the Ro Gallery today, but did not sell because no one offered a bid above the reserve (they asked $6,000 to start the bidding). Below is a Chinese vase, which also did not sell. It was up for auction at Leslie Hindman today, with it's estimate between $200-$400...I think it's very sweet. Perhaps it just wasn't it's day. I wish I'd been there to see it in person. These last three will be at Rago tomorrow, Friday, among a large selection of attainable mid-20th century furniture and decorative arts... Two possibly Paul McCobb chairs that I think are really fun, a great collection of watering cans, and an Asian window panel. I'd love having any one of these pieces in my home! And now I'm off to cheer for the Celtics ;)
